Overview
We envision ourselves as a regional hub for East Asia, providing the fastest growing region in the world with the information and capacity it needs to act decisively on climate change.
We cover the focal themes of climate science and its impacts; adaptation; mitigation; and climate policy. With this knowledge base, we aim to:
- Raise public awareness, conduct relevant research, and serve as a clearinghouse of climate-critical information
- Train people and institutions through activities that stimulate hands-on learning on climate change issues
Service, stewardship, and excellence guide us in all our endeavors.
The klima Climate Center operates under the Manila Observatory of the Ateneo de Manila. Established in 1999, the center began as part of the Climate Studies Division, and was a joint venture of the Inter-Agency Committee on Climate Change (IACCC), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and the Department of Energy (DOE) under the Philippine Climate Change Mitigation Program. The center received funding assistance from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
